Acrylic on thick edge gallery canvas

122 x 122 x 3.5cm

The invention of the internal combustion engine in the 19th century had a profound impact on the Industrial Revolution and society’s social and economic development. Manufacturers used the engine to develop vehicles which would eventually phase out horse drawn cargo and carriages. It is now the combustion engine being phased out, making way for electric powered engines and vehicles.  This painting provides perspective of our present day – as the technological landscape changes, and pays homage to the combustion engine.
